No special equipment is necessary. Just wear comfortable clothing that you can sit and move in easily. Refrain from eating at least two hours before class and bring a blanket for relaxation and meditation time. Mats are provided for all Center for Yoga classes. Please bring your own yoga mat and a blanket for any Community Ed class you're taking and for the classes held in Mason at Caring Touch Therapeutic Massage.
It is the student's responsibility to discuss any health conditions with your doctor and with Ann before starting a class.
The Art of Yoga Practice (Vinyasa--Level 1 and 2). Good for beginners and those with some yoga experience who'd like to fine-tune their practice. You'll learn a moderately-paced, flowing sequence (vinyasa) of yoga poses, gentle stretching techniques along with breathing awareness and meditation techniques for strength, flexibility, and balance throughout body and mind. No pain or "pretzel-bending." All abilities welcome.
Practice from the Heart (All Levels). An opportunity to immerse into yoga practices designed to open your heart, honor your body, and connect to your peaceful center. We'll explore the qualities of the heart -- compassion, connection, and nonviolence -- through poses, meditations, breathing awareness and guided imagery designed to tap into the calm, abiding, peaceful spirit within each of us. All abilities welcome.
Continuing Yoga (Level 2). For those experienced with yoga basics who'd like to deepen their practice. Classes build on a basic understanding of yoga with detailed instructions on poses, adding more work with inversions and backbends, breathwork, relaxation, meditation and yoga philosophy.
Yoga for Every Body (All Levels). Celebrate and honor your body with poses for flexibility, strength and balance. Experiment with modifications that bring the joy of yoga more fully into your body. Experience breathing awareness techniques and meditation and restorative techniques that bring peace to body and mind.
Yoga for Athletes (All Levels). Whether you're a runner, golfer, play basketball, football or enjoy kayaking, this class is for you! We'll focus on developing core strength, stamina, balance and flexibility, practicing yoga with weights, and the mind-body connection as it can enhance your game. No yoga experience necessary. Limited enrollement. .
Celebrating Women's Wisdom, Yoga for Menopause (All Levels). Make a graceful transition to menopause and beyond. We'll work with poses, breathing awareness techniques, and restorative techniques that honor individual differences, calm the mind, and rejoice in the wisdom within you. Let's celebrate this time of change together! Appropriate for all levels. Enrollment is limited.
